About Me

Hi there – Welcome to SnowballFighters, I’m Dave a 30 something traveller originally from the Midlands but now living down in the South of the UK. I was lucky enough to travel a fair bit as a child – which appears to have given me a penchant for travelling.  I also love the outdoors, especially when mountains and snow are in the mix.  I first learned to snowboard in 2000 and have been hooked ever since.

The purest might say I’m not a real traveller as I’ve never backpacked, but to me travel is travel regardless of how it is achieved. Experiencing new cultures, meeting new people and seeing as much of this amazing planet is what it’s all about.

I do quite a lot of travel with my job,  whilst sometimes I only get to see the airport, hotel and customer site.   I always try and see local attractions when I have the weekend to myself.   Some of my travel advice is geared around the business traveler.   I don’t have any plans to quit the 9 to 5 but hope to visit more of my “Places to Visit”

What’s with the name?

I first created Snowballfighters.co.uk back in 2002 in an effort to learn some HTML, create my first webpage and mainly to share ski/snowboard pictures with friends.   Snowball fights are guaranteed on any ski holiday – which is where the name came from.   Over the years as the internet developed, social media become more prevalent and security more important I decided to archive my old site and move to a travel blog approach using WordPress.   The name was quite catchy so I decided to keep it.

The old site can be accessed here if you are interested :
